Case Study - Furniture Retailer

Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO)

Client Profile
Eurway, Inc. is a high-end furniture retailer and brands itself as providers of "cool, contemporary furniture for the home, office and outdoors." Based in Dallas, Eurway searches the world for unique furniture, lighting and artwork and delivers these goods to its customers at direct prices. Currently, there are more than 130 employees and showrooms located in Austin, Houston and the Dallas and Phoenix areas. Showroom and Internet-based sales account for more than $30 million in annual revenues. Eurway's e-commerce growth has recently exploded allowing this fast-growing company to expand to other markets. The robust residential market in the greater Phoenix area provided the perfect opportunity for new ground.
Business Challenge
While maintaining excellent quality of hire, Eurway needed to recruit 22 critical positions in unfamiliar territory with an aggressive three-month time line. Although Eurway's leadership team has successfully opened previous stores using a self-service approach, the Arizona store presented new challenges. The location was new to Eurway, and management's operational responsibilities increased as the company continued to grow. This meant less time to devote to a demanding and complicated staffing situation. The focus on quality of hire was not to be compromised, and the time line to hire was crucial to get the store opened on time
Strategy/Solution
The solution was to outsource the recruiting process. By outsourcing the project to Q4B, Eurway was able to get immediate, effective recruiting that would manage the hiring process. Q4B recruiters provided all of the up-front sourcing and screening to facilitate the candidate flow. Q4B recruiters sourced and stocked a Private Talent Warehouse with candidates that could enter Eurway's proven interviewing process at a moment's notice. After Q4B screened for qualified, interested and available (QIA) candidates, Eurway's management team had an abundant group of talent from which to select for interviews.
Result

Eurway opened the Arizona store on time with no additional cost. Because Q4B was focused on recruiting efforts, Eurway's management was able to concentrate on other activities to open the store. Q4B's sourcing engine generated 651 candidates, which were screened to 163 QIA candidates. With a pool of QIA candidates, Eurway was able to hire its leadership team and the 22 sales and support personnel in time for training and the July 2007 store opening. Q4B's experience in sourcing and screening combined with Eurway's proven interview and selection process made a great team, which produced an offer-to-accept ratio of 82 percent! Even with pressure to meet hiring deadlines, the focus remained on quality of hire. Eurway was able to brand its name as an employer of choice in a new market and have access to top talent in the retail furniture space.

"First of all, let me begin by thanking you for providing Eurway with so many qualified applicants. In addition, the professionalism with which you have handled this project has not only impressed me and the members of my staff, but also the applicants themselves. Many of the potential employees have a very good feeling about our company because of the way you handled setting up their initial interviews." - Alan S. Chasak, chief operations officer for Eurway
